If you’re planning to sell your home and looking to attract the future’s largest home buying group, you may want to highlight the walkability of the neighborhood and area it is in. That’s according to a new study conducted by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) and the Transportation Research and Education Center at Portland State University, which surveyed 3,000 adults living in the nation’s 50 largest metro areas.
The study showed Millennials (born 1980 to 2000) prefer walking as a mode of transportation by 12 percentage points over driving. The generation also prefers living in attached housing, living within walking distance of shops and restaurants and having a short commute, according to the NAR study. They’re also more likely than other age groups to use public transportation.
